Two teams of Central Middle School seventh-graders competed in the Newberry Bowl on April 18.

 

As part of the competition, each team reads seven novels before participating in a quiz show-style competition by answering questions about each novel.

 

Team Hurricane Tortilla (Katherine Beyer, Sarah Beyer, Audrey Bobel, Lily Gagner, Jasmine Green, and Nuala Rabbitte) competed against the Bookwormies (Mohammed Amerhamza, Aine Hynes, Olivia Mankowski, Alyssa Sieloff, and Shawn Sisto) to see who would go on to battle for the Newbery Trophy at Palos South Middle School on May 8th. It was close but the Bookwormies defeated Hurricane Tortilla in two out of three rounds of questions.
