Welcome to sixth grade social studies. I have been teaching in Evergreen Park School District 124 for nineteen years. The first fourteen years were spent teaching sixth grade at Southwest School. I began teaching at Central Middle School when they moved the sixth grade here. The first three years at Central, I taught sixth grade science. Beginning last year, I started teaching social studies at Central, which is my favorite subject. In sixth grade we learn about the ancient civilizations of Egypt, Greece, and Rome. We are adding a study of Mesopotamia and China to our content this year. We also do a brief review of the five themes of geography at the beginning of the first quarter.
Some of my interests and hobbies include reading, photography, and swimming. I am an avid football fan with a preference for Michigan (Go Blue!). I am a first time grandmother of a beautiful little girl named Éilís.
You can learn more about what the sixth graders are doing on your student's Google Classroom page.
